En 1908, le Conseil général d'Ecublens nomme une commission de 7 membres chargée d'examiner la question de l'établissement d'une ligne de tramway électrique Renens-Ecublens-St-Sulpice. Des stations étaient prévues à Renens-gare, Epenex, Le Pontet, Le Villars et Le Motty. Plusieurs variantes de parcours furent proposés. Cependant, le projet ne fut pas concrétisé.
