Année de construction : 13ème siècle. Tour dont les origines sont antérieures à 1239 ; elle appartenait au Chapitre cathédral de Lausanne dont elle constituait un logement et un insigne de pouvoir. Elle abrite dès 1536 la cour baillivale, puis est transformée en grenier en1720. Elle est aménagée en prisons en1864-1865 sur les plans de Philippe Franel. Transformations en1978.
Décembre 2004 : fermeture des prisons et transformation en locaux destinés aux associations locales
